Nanaimo RCMP seek suspects in violent robbery

Nanaimo RCMP are trying to find a pair of robbery suspects.
Police say the men attacked and robbed a 34 year old after he refused to give them a cigarette.  It happened just after midnight July 6th in the underpass at the intersection of Morden Road and Highway 1, not far from the Ruckledge Store.
The victim  was punched and kneed several times and suffered two black eyes, a swollen nose and a concussion.
Constable Gary O’Brien says the area is well-travelled, so it’s likely somebody saw something that could help investigators.
Both suspects are First Nations men.  One is 35-40 years old, balding and approximately 270 pounds. He wore a “Fubu” hoodie and white shorts.
The second is also 35-40 years old with a thin build and long dark hair. He wore a black shirt and black pants. He may also have been carrying a canister of bear spray.O’Brien says RCMP believe the suspects probably live in the area.

If anyone has information on this incident, please contact Nanaimo RCMP or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
