Gibsons Council looking at meeting rules, but no big overhaul planned

Town Councillors in Gibsons agree they need to pay more attention to how their meetings are being run, but they don’t want to tinker with the rules before the election.
All councils have to have a procedure bylaw.  It spells out things like behaviour at meetings, voting, etc.
With Council facing some controversial issues of late, Councillor Dan Bouman has concerns about how the rules for delegations and question periods are being applied.  He says it sometimes comes off as arbitrary.
Bouman’s request for a workshop got general agreement from the others.
But Counicllor Gerry Tretick says any major overhaul of the rules should wait.
The Town’s procedure bylaw was last revised in 2004.
