Hope and Health in Nanaimo

About 400 kids from local First Nations around Nanaimo got some soccer tips from the professional on Wednesday.

35 coaches and players from the Vancouver Whitecaps FC were in town. They, along with players from VIU’s men’s and women’s Mariners teams taught kids news skills as part of Hope and Health.

Organizer William Yoachim from Kw’umut Lelum Child and Family Services says the 3rd annual Hope and Health event was about more than just soccer. He says it’s about giving kids healthy role models to look up to.

The kids from ten area First Nations spent the day at Merle Logan Field in Nanaimo.
