Oceanside RCMP treating newspaper box explosion seriously

It may have been no more than vandalism, but it could have had serious consequences.
Oceanside RCMP are investigating and incident in the Whiskey Creek area Monday night.   Somebody blew up a newspaper box at a rural property with what police are describing as a home-made explosive device.  Although the homeowners didn’t report it at the time they heard a loud bang. It was only Tuesday morning when the say the damage that police were called.
The bomb disposal unit was brought in the from the Lower Mainland.
“We are treating this incident very seriously as it put members of the public and the RCMP in a dangerous situation. We intend on finding out who placed it (IED) and why,” says Cpl Jesse Foreman
Nobody was hurt, and there have been no arrests.
