Language school still looking for Sunshine Coast host families as deadline nears

After years of bringing Japanese students to the Sunshine Coast a summer language school is facing a problem they don’t usually get. Not enough host families.
Cheryl Lee of Muskoka Language International says with a Friday deadline looming, they’re still a about 8 families short for girls aged 15 and 16.
Lee says they also still need a family willing to host teachers.
Lee says people could be a bit slower to come forward this year because of the labour situation in BC Schools.
MLI uses Elphinstone Secondary, but Lee says they’ve worked with the BCTF and the School District to ensure it’s not a problem.
There’s an information meeting this evening (July 9) at 6 the Gibsons and Area Community Centre.
And Lee says they’re also looking for host families for a couple of upcoming programs in Nanaimo.
Lee says people interested in hosting in either area can contact her by cell ahead of the meeting at 778-899-9667 or through e-mail at [email protected]
