It's time for the heavy lifting as Wellington Secondary seismic upgrade continues

There’s a massive piece of construction equipment setting up this week at Wellington Secondary School.
The school is undergoing a $23-million seismic upgrade, and a 500-ton crane will be doing the lion’s share of the heavy lifting.
SD68’s Donna Reimer says the school’s earthquake risk rating is one of the highest in the province and the upgrade project is already well underway — it’s just not been as visible as it’s about to become
Reimer says the crane will be removing the school’s roof and support beams in the central core during the 5 weeks it’s going to be on site.
They’re also building a new wing behind the current facility, and once it’s complete the old wing will be demolished.
The project won’t be finished until January 2016.
