It took a while to get it coordinated, but the Sunshine Coast Regional District and the Town of Gibsons have formally recognized a decades old land donation by a well-known Sunshine Coast family.
L.S., G.W., and R.T. Jackson turned over the property that is now Brothers Memorial Park in Gibsons with the condition it be used for recreation.
SCRD Chair Garry Nohr joined grand daughter, and great niece of the Jacksons, Pam Jackson of Sechelt, on July 5th to unveil a plaque acknowledging the donation.
Today Brothers Memorial Park is the site of sports fields, a skatepark and the Gibsons and Area Community Centre, which opened in 2008.
