There aren’t a lot of standard bus shelters or benches on the Sunshine Coast but that’s starting to change. Over the years people have improvised, by leaving old lawn chairs by the roadside.
But a pair of realtors in Gibsons has come up with a way to combine advertising their business with making life easier for bus riders. Tony Browton and his partner Krista Dempster are donating wooden benches that include a small sign for their firm.
Browton says bus companies in larger communities sell ads on bus benches, but that’s not an option on the Sunshine Coast. Browton says they’re hoping other realtors will follow their lead. He says Sunshine Coast Transit has been supportive, and the reaction from the public has been mainly positive.
