Coastal Fire Centre keeping tabs on things, but campfires should be OK heading into Canada Day

Some rain has the wildfire risk for the mid-Island and Sunshine Coast at low to moderate.
That said, the Coastal Fire Centre is warning people not to get complacent because the situation could change quickly.
The past few days have seen fires in the Saanich and Duncan areas, but Fire Information Officer Donna McPherson says so far, the number of fires this season is below average.
McPherson says although conditions are drier than usual and they’re keeping a very close eye on the forecast, they don’t foresee a campfire ban heading into Canada Day.
