Nanaimo Council could see more fallout from May 5th "Leadercast" motion

Nanaimo City Council may not have seen the last of the fallout from a decision to cancel an event at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre because of a sponsor’s stance against same sex marriage.
Last week the Nanaimo Evangelical Fellowship demanded an apology for the motion, that also banned groups associated with homophobia, divisiveness or expressions of hate from holding events at city facilities.  The motion didn’t say how those things would be defined.
Mayor John Ruttan offered a prepared statement in response at this week’s Council meeting
Despite the statement from Ruttan, a group called the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedom says if someone comes forward as plaintiff they’ll take the City to court.
