Cycle tourism initiative looks to attract Vancouver riders

The Gibsons Chamber of Commerce says its cycle tourism initiative is rolling right along.
The Chamber is working with Transportation Choices Sunshine Coast, also know as TraC, on the project.  The idea is to attract road cyclists to the area, which is already popular with mountain bikers.
Chamber Executive Director Donna McMahon told the Regional Transportation Committee she’s also been talking to groups in Nanaimo, Comox and Oceanside.
She says job one is getting together information cyclists will need, including a Google map with routes.
McMahon says one of their first specific campaigns will be marketing the upcoming Synchronicity Festival as a cycling destination.  She says the popular event is a relatively easy ride for people coming over from Vancouver.
