The stakes are high when it comes to protecting a massive crop of medicinal cannabis, and Nanaimo-based Tilray isn’t taking any chances.
The company has made security their main priority.
And they’ve given the job to Jake Ryan, who was the head of the Nanaimo RCMP’s Intelligence Unit before becoming Director of Security Services for Tilray.
Ryan says it’s one of the most secure licensed facilities in Canada, and a side benefit is that it’s making the rest of the neighbourhood more secure too – something neighbours say they appreciate.
Ryan also says he’s happy new medical marijuana rules in Canada are eliminating grow-ops in residential neighbourhoods, in favour of safer commercial grow-ops.
