School Districts working to ensure exams go smoothly during strike; community events at schools will be impacted

Negotiations are expected to resume between the BCTF and the province Tuesday, as teachers head into the second day of a full-scale strike.

Local School Districts, meanwhile, are focused on making sure provincial exams run smoothly for students in grades 10 through 12.  The Sunshine Coast and Nanaimo Ladysmith Districts have posted schedules and other information on their websites. SD68; SD46.  Information for the Qualicum School District is posted here.

Donna Reimer speaks for SD 68.  She says the strike will also impact community activities at school facilities.

School District 46 superintendent Patrick Bocking says it’s the same on the Sunshine Coast.

Bocking says there’s no summer school to worry about for SD 46.

The Nanaimo Ladysmith School District doesn’t have summer school either, but it does run a year-round learn at home program.  Reimer says they’re still not sure how the strike will impact that.

Both School Districts also say during the strike Strong Start Centres will be closed.
