Nanaimo RCMP are calling on the public to be alert and report suspicious activity to police after thefts from vehicles in a parking lot at Cable Bay. Nearby mailboxes have also been broken into.
RCMP have not given any specific details of the crimes, but Constable Gary O’Brien says thieves seem to be targeting visitors parked at the entrance to the popular hiking trail.
O’Brien says RCMP think that it’s likely that whoever broke into the vehicles is also responsible for the break-ins at the mailboxes in the same general area.
