Krog says fate of controversial TWU law school likely headed to Supreme Court

Nanaimo MLA Leonard Krog is predicting the question of Trinity Western University’s law school will end up in the Supreme Court.

Krog, a lawyer and the NDP Attorney General Critic, was among thousands of BC lawyers who voted this week to demand the school’s accreditation be withdrawn.

TWU makes students sign a convenant forbidding sex outside marriage, and homosexuality.

Krog says it’s blatant discrimination of the sort no law school should be allowed to get away with and sticking with its accreditation will ultimately put the Law Society on the “wrong side of history”

This week’s vote is not binding on the Law Society.

Krog says he thinks if the various lawsuits from both sides of the issue do end up in the Supreme Court, it’s likely the court would find the covenant breaches the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
