Boil water advisory continues; Gibsons launches dedicated web page for info

The boil water advisory in Gibsons remains in effect.
The advisory was issued for Zones 1 and 2 on June 6th, when routine testing showed e-coli contamination.
Town officials say it’s still not clear where the contamination came from.
Meanwhile, work continues to disinfect the system, including “super chorlination” at the Parkland Reservoir and pipe flushing using chlorinated water from the Sunshine Coast Regional District supply.
Director of Engineering Dave Newman says that work may cause some noticeable changes.
Recent samples have come back free of e-coli, but Newman says they’ll need to see a whole series of clean tests before the advisory can be lifted.
The Town has now launched a web page dedicated to information on the water situation. www.gibsons.ca/boil-water.
