17-year-old girl fights off attempted abduction in Nanaimo

A 17-year-old girl managed to fight off her attacker after an attempted abduction. It happened around 1:30am on Wilkinson Road near the Cedar bridge on Wed, June 11.

She told police she was driving when she spotted some kittens on the road that appeared to be attempting to cross the road. She got out of her car to help them.  At that same time, a car pulled up behind her and a man got out and approached her.  As she was walking back to her car, she was attacked and thrown to the ground. She fought back and at lost consciousness at one point.  Eventually the man ran back to his vehicle and drove away. During the struggle, the woman sustained numerous cuts and abrasions to her hands and knees. She drove herself to her home, where she called 9-1-1.

The suspect is a white man between 20-25 years old with short hair. He was wearing baggy jeans, a white or grey t-shirt and a flat brim dark ball cap. The vehicle he was driving was an older model white, 1990 to 1995 Honda Civic or possibly a Toyota. There was a dark pin stripe along the door panel and a small spoiler on the trunk. It also sounded very loud and there was a blue light associated to the vehicle.
