NDP ferries critic says Libs want no part of discussion on BC Ferries' future

North Island MLA Claire Trevena is taking aim at the Liberal government for refusing to talk about BC Ferries.

Trevena says coastal communities are suffering from service cuts, high fares and fuel surcharges.  But the government only gets involved in the discussion when it suits them.

She says when UBC Alumni organized a panel discussion in Victoria on who BC Ferries should serve, nobody from the Ministry of Transportation took part.

The panel did include Ferries CEO Mike Corrigan, a former Ferry Commissioner, and a rep from the Ferry Advisory Committee Chairs.

Trevena says most at the event agreed ferries need to be treated as an extension of the highways.
