Arrest Made in Sunshine Coast Crime Wave

An arrest has been made in connection to the Sunshine Coast’s three-month bulge in break-and-enter crimes at businesses in an area stretching from Roberts Creek to Pender Harbour.

Staff Sergeant Poppy Hallam says a 32-year old man was arrested at the Blue Ocean Golf Course on the Thanksgiving weekend.

More arrests are expected.

Staff Sergeant Hallam says the latest development in their investigation came when two officers decided to watch a business that had already been targeted and caught as suspect as he tried to break in.

Hallam says the increase in crimes that began in July created a heavy workload for RCMP and headaches for the businesses affected.

Most of the crimes involved businesses in and around Sechelt, but the total area involved stretches from Roberts Creek to Pender Harbour.
