Memorial service Tues in Nanaimo for fallen Moncton RCMP officers

Nanaimo RCMP are holding a memorial service for their fallen Moncton comrades on the same day a regimental funeral for the three officers takes place in the New Brunswick city.

Constable Gary O’Brien says RCMP members and emergency first responders from across Vancouver Island will be travelling to Nanaimo for the service at St Paul’s Anglican Church on Tuesday, June 10. He says seating inside the church at 100 Chapel St will be reserved for those members.

O’Brien says it’s important for RCMP members and emergency first responders on the west coast to stand in solidarity with their colleagues on the east coast.

O’Brien says the public is welcome to watch the funeral memorial procession, beginning at the RCMP detachment at 303 Prideaux St at 12:30pm. It will make its way down Fitzwilliam Street to St Paul’s Anglican Church for 1:00pm.
