Forest Legacy Fund Community Grants

Sechelt has approved grants totaling 285-thousand dollars for several organizations on the Sunshine Coast.

The money is coming from the Sunshine Coast Community Forest Legacy Fund, which was created by the District of Sechelt to support worthy community projects.

The Legacy Fund receives dividends paid by the Sunshine Coast Community Forest.

Sechelt Council has now approved grants for several projects, including the Rotary Club proposal to install automated external defibrillator and life-saving tube stations.

The club is being awarded 35-thousand dollars to install defibrillators in public areas and put live-saving tubs at popular swimming areas.

The Sunshine Coast Arts Council and Roberts Creek Community Hall are each going to receive one-hundred-thousand dollars for roof replacement projects and other work.

The Pender Harbour District Health Society will get 40-thousand dollars to purchase a handicap accessible van. The Society will use the van and volunteer drivers to provide transportation to medical appointments and health and wellness programs.
