Sunshine Coast RCMP Still Dealing With More Property Crimes

The RCMP continues to deal with the spike in property crimes on the Sunshine Coast that began during the summer.

Staff Sergeant Poppy Hallam says the most recent break-in was at the Pender Harbour Golf Course. Thieves broke in sometime late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning.

Staff Sergeant Hallam says they are working with businesses to change how they handle cash, and also to encourage the use of alarms and video surveillance.

She says in the past three months, three golf courses on the Sunshine Coast have been broken into, along with Sunshine Coast Regional District landfill sites, BC Transit buses that have been parked and locked for the night, and several businesses.

Hallam says some businesses have now been hit repeatedly. She says the objective of the thief or thieves is to steal any cash that might be on site.
