Sunshine Coasters plan candlelight vigil for slain RCMP officers

Preparations are underway for a regimental funeral for the three RCMP officers killed last week in Moncton.
The funeral will take place Tuesday, but Monday night people on the Sunshine Coast will gather for a candlelight vigil at the RCMP detachment in Sechelt. It starts at 8pm.
It is important that we pay our respect to the three fallen members and their families, says Sgt Steve Chubey, the detachement’s media relations officer. There isn’t anyone in this detachment that doesn’t wish they could be at the service for these officers tomorrow. This is a way that we, as a community and detachment, can honour these members, grieve with and support their families, friends and fellow officers.
In Nanaimo people have been dropping by RCMP headquarters since the incident last week to sign a book of condolences.
