Hornets Nest Destroyed

Some good news for bee-keepers in the Nanaimo area.

A nest containing Asian giant hornets has been destroyed in Robin’s Park in Nanaimo.

The BC Agriculture Ministry says a provincial entomologist and a group of local bee-keepers eradicated the nest using carbon dioxide.

All hornets, including the queen, have been removed.

There is a report of a second giant hornet nest found in Nanaimo and the location is being checked to verify that report.
