Parents group calling for immediate end to teacher strike and lockout

BC teachers are voting next week on going to a full scale strike, but in the meantime rotating walkouts will continue.

Nanaimo-Ladysmith and Sunshine Coast teachers will be on the picket lines again Wednesday the 11th, and Qualicum teachers will walkout  Thursday the 12th.

It’s been frustrating for students, who walked out themselves this week, and for parents. Now, the group representing BC’s parents is calling for an end to the strikes and the lockout.

Angie Carlyle of Qualicum is a director with the BC Confederation of Parent Advisory Councils

The Confederation says both sides are hurting the most vulnerable students and causing financial hardship for struggling families. They’re urging people to write the BCTF and the government to tell them how they’re being affected.
