Busy evening and early morning for Nanaimo Fire crews

Nanaimo Fire Rescue crews were busy Thursday evening with two house fires and a fire at the Harmac mill, then a fourth fire early Friday morning.

The worst of the house fires was at 106 Pine Street.  The blaze broke out around 6:15pm and caused a lot of damage to the upper floors.  Everybody got out safely.

The fire at  430 Millford Crescent happened around the same time. It caused some damage to the side of house.  A carelessly discarded cigarette is the suspected cause.

Then around 9:30 NFR crews were called out to Harmac to deal with a fire on one of the pulp mill’s conveyor belts.

And at 6:10 Friday morning another call came in for a fire that started in a rubbish pile and extended to exterior of home in the 3900 block of MacIsaac Drive.  Fire Prevention will be investigating the 4 fires throughout the day.
