Fire destroyed a boat anchored near the Garden Bay Marine Park.
Pender Harbour firefighters got to the fire with the help of another boater, but once they arrived, the boat was engulfed and there was no saving it.
The boat sank and that prompted a response from Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue out of Pender Harbour to try and contain fuel or oil.
The acting Pender Harbour Fire Chief Jim Cameron said because the boat sank, it’s unlikely that a cause of the fire will be determined.
No one was injured.
