BC Ferries back on regular schedules, but with some changes on Earls Cove – Saltery Bay

BC Ferries returns to its regular schedule December 30th, but they are making some tweaks on the route that links the upper and lower Sunshine Coast.

The slower-running Queen of Chilliwack has been on the Earls Cove – Saltery Bay run for a few months, and when it had trouble keeping to the regular schedule Ferries stretched things out to give the ship more time.  Deborah Marshall of BC Ferries says they’ve been watching how that worked.  “What we’re finding after a couple of months of analysis is that we can tighten up that schedule so the first sailing is not as early and the last sailing is not as late,” she says.

The first sailing of the day from Saltery Bay will still be pretty early, at 4:50 in the morning instead of 4:15am.  The last sailing of the day, out of Earls Cove, will now be 10:30 pm.

The schedule is expected to stay in place until the Island Sky returns to the route in mid-April
