SOFIs show a big difference between mayor's expenses in Sechelt and Gibsons

This is the time of year when people get a look at what their municipal politicians are getting paid, and more importantly what they’re spending.
Local governments are putting out their SOFIs (or Statements of Financial Information)
And on the Sunshine Coast there’s quite a difference between what’s happening in Sechelt and Gibsons.
Gibsons Mayor Wayne Rowe reported expenses for 2013 of around 23-hundred dollars.  In Sechelt, mayor John Henderson spent just over 20-thousand.
Henderson says the numbers reflect an accounting decision about how to report when the mayor’s credit card was used for expenses for others on Council.
As for another high spending councillor, Chris Moore, Henderson says much of his 9-thousand dollars or so is related to travel for meetings with federal and provincial officials on the airport expansion project.
