The Sunshine Coast School District says a much anticipated event planned for Monday is being cancelled; a victim on the ongoing labour dispute between teachers and the province.
The big bicycle parade through downtown Sechelt was organized as a fundraiser and show of support for the Sunshine Coast RCMP’s “Cops for Cancer” riders, constables Kevin Shepherd
The Tour de Coast doesn’t take place until the fall, so they’re working on staging another event later on instead.
A statement on the SD 46 website says, “The District event will be postponed until September and will coincide with the actual ride next fall. Further information regarding plans for September will be published. Thank you everyone for your commitment to this wonderful event. We look forward to supporting the Cops for Cancer ride in September and developing an exciting event for our students.”
