Sechelt council is going to get to enjoy some downtime in August.

Tomorrow’s regular council meeting has been cancelled, along with the one on the 21.

Jo-Anne Frank, the Corporate Officer with the District explains the reason for the cancellations.

“At the beginning of the year, it didn’t include a second council meeting in August to allow everyone a little bit of a break,” said Frank. “At that time, the Committee of the Whole meetings weren’t considered because we had just started that new structure when the new council came in, so the idea was to not hold a  council meeting so that there could be a little bit of a summer break.”

The Committee of the Whole meetings on the 14th and 28th have been cancelled.

The next regular council meeting is set for September 4.
