A boat was destroyed by a fire in Plumper Cove near Keats Island recently.
Constable with the Sunshine Coast RCMP Karen Whitby says as a precaution this boat was towed away from a dock to minimize property damage.
“They’d come up from Vancouver, the boat was driven up to unload a family and at about 2:30 pm smoke was visible, coming from the boat,” said Whitby. “Multiple boaters assisted, deploying 10 to 12 fire extinguishers and countless buckets of water, but were unable to control the boat fire.”
It’s unknown what caused the fire and Whitby says its no longer a police matter.
