SD68 urging students not to participate in walkout on Wed

The Nanaimo-Ladysmith School District is urging students not to take part in a walkout being planned province-wide by some secondary students. The walkout on Wednesday is reaction to the ongoing dispute between the BC Teachers Federation and the government. It’s being organized through social media.

Donna Reimer speaks for SD68. She says they’re sending a letter home to parents stating the School District’s position on the student walkout.

Reimer says it’s important for parents to discuss the issue with their kids. She says beyond the obvious safety concerns, the walkout will cause students to miss out on even more class time.
