Car crash causes power outage in Cedar/Gabriola Is.

BC Hydro is working to restore power to a handful of people in the Cedar area after a widespread outage Tuesday morning.
Thousands of customers were left without electricity after a car hit a hydro pole at the corner of Holden Corso Rd and Macmillan Rd in Cedar.
Nanaimo RCMP Constable Gary O’Brien says an 18-year-old woman behind the wheel of an older model Mustang lost control and hit the hydro pole, causing it to fall across the road.
RCMP believe alcohol was a contributing factor in the accident. They’re not sure whether charges will be laid against the driver.
BC Hydro expects the remaining 40 customers in Cedar to have power again by 4:00pm.
