One Man Dead Following Highway 101 Accident

Emergency crews attended the scene of a fatal crash earlier today on the Sunshine Coast Highway south of the Jack Road intersection.

Poppy Hallam with the Sunshine Coast RCMP said the vehicle had two occupants.

“A vehicle headed southeast in the passing lane, lost control, left the highway, and rolled. Our officers, EHS, and fire attended the scene and two males were taken by ambulance to Sechelt Hospital,” said Hallam. “One male was transported to Vancouver General Hospital with injuries, the second male, the driver, died [in] hospital.”

This incident is under investigation.

The driver was 67-years-old and the passenger was 62.

Hallam said, in less than one hour, RCMP received calls about a number of accidents and in one of them, a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle at Wilson Creek at the intersection of Field Road and Highway 101.
