City of Nanaimo says it's "constrution season"; expect delays

If you haven’t already seen the evidence for yourself, the City of Nanaimo wants to remind you “construction season” is now in full swing.

Several of the projects will mean traffic delays or detours, including:

Water main, sewer and a bike lane work on Bruce Avenue from 5th to 7th.
Sidewalk construction on the south side of Hammond Bay Road between Tom’s Turnabout and Dunn Place

And Water main replacement on Jingle Pot Road from Westwood to Harwell, Harwell  from Jingle Pot to Woodthrush,  and Westwood from Jingle Pot to Arbot.

Another project to be aware of comes up a little later in the summer. From August 5th to September 1st the main vehicle entrance into Neck Point Park (off Morningside Drive), will be closed during work on a new outfall for the sewage treatment plant.

During the road closure there will be no vehicle access to the parking lot at Neck Point Park or the weekend overflow parking lot at Hammond Bay Elementary School.

However, Neck Point Park will remain open.
