RDN Transit will start offering handyDart within Snaw-Naw-As village near Lantzville in the New Year… under an agreement between the Nanoose First Nation and the Regional District of Nanaimo.
Most parts of the Nanoose First Nation are near regular RDN Transit routes, but that hasn’t been helping the people who need the on-call, specialized service that handyDart provides.
RDN Chair Joe Stanhope says the agreement is an important example of cooperation, and even a first in BC.
Nanoose Chief David Bob says handyDart will be especially welcome for Nanoose elders who often find it difficult to get to and from medical appointments.
