Rainwater harvesting rebate program begins taking applications

The Sunshine Coast Regional District is now taking applications for the rainwater harvesting rebate program (April 15).

Raphael Shay, Water, and Energy Projects Coordinator said residents, with an SCRD water utility account, must be pre-approved to take advantage of the program.

“The rebate program works with a multi-step approach just to make sure we have rebates available for everybody who applies and people don’t go down and buy things without having a rebate secured for them.”

Operating on a first-come, first serve basis while funds are available, the rebate program entitles property owners to a rebate of up to 500 dollars to offset the cost of the purchase of a rainwater storage cistern with a minimum storage volume of 4,500 litres.
