Cassidy Country Kitchen destroyed by fire

No one was hurt, but a restaurant south of Nanaimo was completely destroyed after an early morning fire.

Firefighters from the Cranberry and Cedar departments were called out to the Cassidy Country Kitchen in the 2900 block of the Trans Canada Hwy around 2:00am.

When they got there, flames had already engulfed the entire building. They were able to contain the blaze so it didn’t spread to any other buildings.

Constable Gary O’Brien of Nanaimo RCMP says police are involved because it’s still not clear if the fire was suspicious.

O’Brien says because they’re still not sure what happened, they’re hoping anyone with information will call Nanaimo RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
