The cargo numbers at the Port of Nanaimo were down a bit in 2018.
Ian Marr, Chief Executive Officer of the Port said overall it was a good year, however, with 286 ships in the harbour compared to 277 last year.
He said forest products were up, logs were down, container movement stayed about the same tonnage-wise.
He said the Port was down from about 5 and a half million metric tons to 5 point 3.
The Nanaimo Port Authority manages seaplane operations and six deep-sea ship anchorages, along with cargo facilities at the Nanaimo Assembly Wharf and Duke Point Terminals.
