Police seek to return stolen fishing gear

Nanaimo RCMP is looking for some stolen fishing gear.

Mounties say thieves stole three fishing rods after breaking into a pickup truck that was parked on Girvin Street.

The victim says he may have forgotten to lock his vehicle, or he may have accidentally bumped the fob and unlocked it on the way into his house.

One of the rods was given to him by his father, just before his father died and the victim says it holds countless childhood memories.

The rod, referred to as an Ugly Stik, is the only item he had that was given to him from his father before he died.

Another stolen rod is a Redington Path 11 Outfit Fishing Road with a Crosswater reel.

Also taken was a pair of green coloured neoprene hip waders.
