Goats at work at Woodgrove Centre

Woodgrove Centre has some four-legged employees this week. A herd of goats from Goats on The Hoof Vegetation Management has been hired to take care of some invasive blackberries.

Allan Iwanyshyn says the ten goats are working on a test patch on a slope between the parking lot and the highway, similar to the work they did for the City of Nanaimo in Bowen Park.

Iwanyshyn says Woodgrove Centre hired them after hearing about the work the goats did in Bowen Park.

Iwanyshyn says the goats will be working there for the next four days. Meanwhile, the City of Nanaimo is still considering whether to hire the goats again this season to munch on more invasive plants.
