A couple of Youth Representatives will be sworn in at the next council meeting in Gibsons.
Council members decided on Sacha Stipec to be the first appointee and Jason Lewis will serve as the alternate.
Mayor Bill Beamish says this is an exciting time for the town and they’re looking forward to having these two grade 12 students join them at municipal meetings.
“It will be nice to have that youth perspective on council,” said Beamish.
“They are welcome to contribute to the discussion and debate of any town issues. We also want them to report on youth interests and issues to council. That way, those perspectives can be considered when council is making decisions.”
Beamish says these two youth representatives will serve until the end of June and then two new reps will be chosen for next year.
