Crown to consider charges in Myles Gray case

The Independent Investigations Office came to visit us and after a hellish 3 years, 5 months and 2 days Myles case will be passed to the Crown for further investigation.
That’s the statement on the Justice for Myles Gray Facebook page and it comes after the Independent Investigation Office announced it will be filing a report to the B.C. Prosecution Service for their consideration of charges.
In August of 2015, 33-year-old Myles Gray, who had a successful landscape company in Sechelt was working in Burnaby when there was some sort of confrontation with the Vancouver Police.
When it was over, Gray was dead.
The cause of his death hasn’t been released and the case has been under investigation by the Independent Investigation Office since.
The Independent Investigations Office is reporting the investigation was a lengthy one for a number of reasons including a difference of opinion with a witness officer regarding the extent of their duty to cooperate under the Police Act.
Should the Crown proceed with charges it must be satisfied there is a substantial likelihood of a conviction based on the evidence gathered and that the prosecution is in the public interest.
