Slocan Lake search resumes Tuesday, no sign of missing canoeists

RCMP in the Kootenays now say the search for 3 people missing, and presumed drowned, in Slocan Lake will resume Tuesday morning.
A dive team worked through the morning and afternoon Monday, trying to find any trace of 21 year old Hayden Kyle from Gibsons and Skye Donnet and Jule Whiltshire-Padfield of New Denver.  They were in a canoe that capsized Saturday evening.  Their companion, 19 year old Lily Harmer-Taylor was found by rescuers with the canoe, but died in hospital.
Divers were challenged by the cold water and depth of the lake, according to RCMP Sgt Darryl Little.
Little says given the terrain in the area if anyone had made it to shore they would have been spotted by the air and land searches Sunday and early Monday.  He says this is a recovery now, and the dive team will get back to work on Tuesday.  The RCMP also has another aerial search, planned.
New Denver Mayor Ann Bunka says in a close-knit community like hers “every accident and loss is personal” and all the communities along Slocan Lake are “reeling with this tragedy”.
