RCMP in the Kootenays say the search for 3 people missing after a canoe accident on Slocan Lake is now a recovery effort.
It happened Saturday evening around 5:30. One person has been confirmed dead; a 19 year-old woman from New Denver, Lily Harmer-Taylor.
21 year-old Hayden Kyle who lived in Gibsons, 18 year-old Skye Donnet and 15 year-old Jule Wiltshire-Padfield, both of New Denver, have not been seen since. An RCMP dive team has been in the water since this morning. Sgt. Darryl Little says the helicopter failed to spot anyone on shore or on the water earlier.
Little says it’s not clear what caused the canoe to overturn.
