The Clothesline Project is intended to spark a conversation about violence against women in our communities.
The Haven Society’s Chantal Lambert said Nanaimo community members are invited to write a message on articles of clothing to be hung in designated locations around the city.
“Particularly at the VIU campus there’s a number of stations that they can go to and fill out their own messages of safety and support or their own experiences.”
The Clothesline Project coincides with the United Nations-driven 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence Campaign and will run until December 10 on Human Rights Day.
It will also mark December 6th, the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.
