Sunshine Coast home to first-in-BC tourism initiative

It seems like a simple idea; a one-stop shop for booking tours or other experiences while visiting the Sunshine Coast, but nobody’s done it until now.

Aboriginal and Eco Tour Services launched Thursday, and it’s a first for BC.

The company, co-founded by local tour operator Candace Campo, will run out of the Visitor Information Centre in Sechelt.  It will let people book and pay for tours (in person and online) with a focus on First Nations heritage and the outdoors.  Campo says they’re working with companies that reflect a certain set of values.

Kevan Ridgway, President & CEO of Vancouver, Coast and Mountains Tourism, says that’s a winning combination.

Ridgway says Thursday’s launch is another sign of how the tourism industry on the Sunshine Coast has matured over the past few years.
