Highway flooding concerns raised by Sechelt community association

A Sechelt community association wants the province to take better care of Highway 101, especially over the winter months.

“There is persistent flooding on the highway in Davis Bay and it’s a safety issue,” said Robin Merriott, acting President of the Davis Bay-Wilson Creek-Selma Park Association.

“Cars are driving through quite deep water throughout the sections of the highway near the Bella Bella motel and it’s been an ongoing issue whenever it rains. It floods right across the road and with more rain coming over the next months, we wanted to bring awareness to this issue.
Merriott noted they’ve been in touch with the District of Sechelt about these concerns as well.

They have been informed that if more people reach out to the Ministry of Transportation about this then there’s a better chance something will be done.
