Premier signs agreement with Woodfibre LNG

Woodfibre on Howe Sound is on track to become BC’s first operating LNG export facility after an agreement signed this week.

Premier Christy Clark is on a trade mission to Asia where she met with Woodfibre LNG Lead Director, Imelda Tanoto.

Woodfibre LNG’s plans involve converting an abandoned pulp mill site, and expanding the existing Fortis natural gas pipeline that runs through the area.  They hope to be up and running in 2017.

The project still needs to clear environmental assessment, and concerns have been raised about tanker traffic, the impact of expanding the pipeline, and safety.
